Bubble Earrings - 22 Karat Gold and Colored Diamonds

Bubbles of gold and glints of blue  will mesmerize in these water inspired 22 karat granulated earrings set with tiny blue diamonds. 

Granulation was used as embellishment in ancient times and is done today by a relatively small number of goldsmiths. The technique takes years of practice using the purest of metals. Each tiny granule is made by hand and making enough for one piece of jewelry can take weeks. Each granule is then placed one by one on the piece with a tiny brush. The piece is heated almost to the melting point. At that precise moment, the granules fuse and become one piece and part of the item being granulated.  The larger the granules, the more difficult the technique.

The earrings are circles measuring about 1 inch in diameter and hang about 1 inch from the earlobe.  Diamonds are .02 carats or 2 points.
