Childhood memories of burning leaves inspired this forged cuff bracelet. It's blackened, as if by fire, and embellished with granulated leaves and centers of fused 24 karat gold. Leaf outlines are silver and are slightly "smoked." As old as time itself, fire connects us with our distant past. This use of granulation brings an ancient technique into the modern world.
The ancient technique of granulation takes years of practice using the purest of metals. Each tiny granule is made by hand and then placed one by one on the piece with a tiny brush. The piece is heated almost to the melting point. At that precise moment, the granules fuse and become one. 22k gold won't dull or tarnish. No solder is used to make this cuff bracelet.
Cuff is one inch wide with a 1" opening. Fits small to medium wrists, approximately 6 inches. Inside is brushed silver, blackened outside is slightly mottled or "smoked." Signed inside by the artist.
