The Blue Grotto is a sea cave on the coast of the island of Capri, southern Italy. Famous for it's magnificent reflected blue light which illuminates the cavern as water passes through an underground opening. Inspired by such natural beauty, the artist chose this particular stone for it's reminiscence of this natural wonder.
Many people have not heard of Apatite, it is relatively rare, especially in sizes over 1 carat. This stone comes from Madagascar and is approximately 10x12mm, beautiful for its color and crystal matrix seen within this natural gem.
This lovely gemstone is set in a 22 karat gold bezel with a 22 karat braid and placed on a low dome, 6 mm wide sterling band.
