Soft, leafy blossoms against a summer sky in this beautiful triangle aquamarine cabochon, wrapped in a solid 22K bezel. 22k handcrafted leaves and a small bud accent the stone.
The artist has used the ancient technique of granulation in 22k to create leaves and a blossom on the side. The gemstone is a 10x10x10 mm triangle, the inclusions enhance the natural beauty never found in a man-made stone and is hand picked by the artist.
Granulation is an ancient technique, mastered by relatively few goldsmiths. It takes years of practice using the purest of metals. Each tiny granule is made by hand, and making enough for one piece of jewelry can take weeks, then placed one by one using a tiny brush. The piece is heated almost to the melting point. At that precise moment, the granules fuse and become one with the item being granulated. The technique is evident in museum collections featuring ancient jewelry. The 22 karat gold is a special alloy the artist makes, giving it a purity of 98% gold. She then creates sheet and wire from this alloy for fabrication.
Aquamarine is said to have an affinity with sensitive people, the ability to calm the mind, invoke tolerance of others and give support to those overwhelmed by responsibility. It's believed to also clarify perception, sharpen the intellect and clear confusion. Aquamarine is the birthstone of March. This lovely aquamarine was mined in Brazil.
A low dome ring band in sterling silver completes the look.
