Ahnk Earrings

Echoes of ancient Egypt come alive with these Ankh earrings.  The ankh is an ancient Egyptian symbol which symbolizes the many aspects of life, including physical life, eternal life, immortality, death, and reincarnation. The symbol is a teardrop-shaped hoop with a cross connected directly below it, to represent the sun making its path upward and over the horizon.

It also represents the union of man and woman, symbolizing the creation of life. According to one of the theories about the origin of the ankh, the symbol could be the combination of the male and female icons representing Osiris and Isis, the cross and the oval, respectively.

Earrings shown are a pair of vermeil and can be made to order in your choice of sterling silver, vermeil (24k plated silver), solid 18 and 22 karat gold.  Please email me for pricing in solid gold.
