Crete Rutilated Quartz and Diamond Earrings

The legendary goddesses of ancient Crete inspired these 22 karat, rutilated quartz and diamond earrings.  Honoring strong and powerful women like those in Crete who played a central role in religion and society. Museums are filled with female deities depicted as "earth mothers" and fertility symbols in small, finely cut carvings and figurines of women wearing jewelry much like these.

Granulated 22K gold disks have a central small diamond and slender rutilated quartz teardrops hanging below.  

Granulation is an ancient decorative technique, mastered by relatively few goldsmiths. It takes years of practice using the purest of metals. Each tiny granule is made by hand and then placed one by one using a tiny brush.

14K post backs, drops are 8 x 30 mm, disks are 18mm round.  Diamonds are .2 ct.

Rutilated Quartz teardrops are hand picked and no two pieces are alike.  Your pair will differ in color and pattern from the photo.
