Inspired by the jewelry of ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt, and Greece, this handcrafted necklace celebrates goldsmithing techniques that have endured for thousands of years. At its center is a hollow-form bead, hand-forged from 22 karat gold using traditional metalsmithing methods. The bead is adorned with a graceful leafy motif created with granulation, the ancient art of fusing tiny spheres of gold to the surface without solder.
Individually crafted in my Princeton studio, each hollow-form bead is made entirely by hand, with a different pattern on each side. The subtle variations created during the hand-forming process ensure that every necklace is truly one of a kind.
Suspended from a blackened sterling silver rolo chain, Floating Petals is equally beautiful worn alone or layered with other favorite necklaces.
Bead is 10 x 16 mm.
Also available on a gold chain in various lengths. Email me for options and pricing.
