Fire, as old as time itself, connects us with our distant past. A mix of fiery colors in a statement necklace of blackened silver and 22 karat gold granulation; carrying this ancient technique into the modern world. This is the centerpiece of the Smoke and Fire collection. A Carnelian rose cut pear is set in 22 karat gold on a pure silver back sheet, accented with granulation. Set on a hand made chain are oval faceted carnelians and golden citrines in 22 karat gold and silver. Over 4500 years ago, Sumerian and Egyptian craftsmen were making jewelry set with Carnelian. The chain has 22 karat gold links at 3 inch intervals and a handmade 22 karat gold clasp. There are 5 grams of solid 22 karat gold in this necklace. Oxidized silver links make up the hand crafted chain.
The ancient technique of granulation takes years of practice using the purest of metals. Each tiny granule is made by hand and then placed one by one on the piece with a tiny brush. The piece is heated almost to the melting point. At that precise moment, the granules fuse and become one. 22k gold won't dull or tarnish.
