This ancient Greek coin is one from my own collection. It is considered a "Follis" coin and to read more about it's significance here's the link to Wikipedia's article. It's a large coin, about 25 mm or 1 inch in diameter. Found in a 1st-3rd century coin hoard. It has a lovely brownish-bronze patina. These coins are considered "lettered Byzantine bronzes." Most common is the half follis with Greek numeral for 20 = K.
Wouldn't you love to know what stories this coin could tell? Coins were often buried in antiquity for safekeeping and for whatever reasons, their owners never came back for them. In modern times they are found in hoards. New ones are found frequently, especially in Britain. Wouldn't you just love to know the stories this coin could tell?
I've set it in solid 22 karat gold in an ancient inspired design with an open back to make the reverse side of the coin visible. The chain is 18K, 24 inches long.
Available with or without the chain. One piece in stock, others made to order in 10-14 days.
If you have your own coin or would like a different one, please feel free to email me.
