Lapis Lazuli was one of the ancient Egyptians favorite gemstones. Sourced from some of the oldest mines in the world, these mines were worked from 4000 B.C. and some are still in use today. Lapis is frequently seen in ancient amulets and scarabs. King Tutankhamun’s sarcophagus was heavily inlaid with lapis. Because the stone is always flecked with pyrite it has been a symbol of the starry night in cultures across the world.
These lapis teardrops earrings are 25mm long and 10mm wide at the bottom. The handmade ear wires are 18k gold. The 22k gold caps have a brush finish to enhance the ancient appearance and luster of high karat gold.
